WHAT IS AN OKLAHOMA OPTOMETRIC PHYSICIAN?

An Oklahoma Optometric Physician (or optometrist) is an independent primary health care provider who examines, diagnoses, treats and manages diseases and disorders of the visual system, the eye, and associated structures as well as diagnosing related systemic conditions. Qualified Optometric Physicians are able to prescribe a wide range of topical and oral medications to treat glaucoma, treat infections, control inflammation, and control pain. Qualified Optometric Physicians perform some laser surgical procedures using YAG lasers and other non-laser surgical procedures such as metal foreign body removal. Doctors Stephen McRay and Craig Denton are both qualified to perform these surgical procedures.
